About Berlin Marathon 2023

The BMW Berlin Marathon is on its 47th edition, and enthusiasts are looking forward to covering the 42.2km annual race on the fastest course in the world. Since 1974, athletes have broken the world record 12 times.

The current world record was set this year in the Berlin Marathon 2022 by the Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge who ran the full marathon in 2:01:09 (2022).

Much is expected from the Berlin Marathon 2023 event, with event organizers adding a few innovative ideas that are bound to make the event memorable.

The event usually starts at the German capital and concludes at Brandenburg Gate.

Event Information

The Berlin marathon 2023 registration process is already concluded, and all 40,000 participation spots have been occupied. Besides the full marathon, other events include hand and wheelchair cyclists. But it won't feature the power walk event.

There are three categories of participants.

· Single registration

· Team registration- consists of 2-3 members

· Fast runners- You secure your starting position depending on your personal best time. Proof of time, not more than three years (2020).

Registration

The event registration process closed on Dec 1st, 2022, and the lottery winners have already been notified.

Race Time

The race is scheduled to start at 9:15 AM and is expected to last 6 hours and 15 minutes. The anticipated temperatures are average between 54-70 Fahrenheit.

Awards

Everybody is a winner at the Berlin marathon 2023 as long as you cross the finish line within the set course time for the event. All people who finish the race will receive participation award medals.

There are no participation t-shirts for the Berlin Marathon 2023.

Preparation

Make sure to collect your bib and packet before the race day on Sept 24th, 2023.

The Berlin marathon course is flat and fast, and you can expect it to have a competitive edge all through as runners aim to improve their times and perhaps go for the world record.
