The Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2023 is a highly anticipated annual event as it attracts huge crowds falling second only to the London Marathon. It started in 1986 and has since run consistently every year since 2003, gaining its prestigious IAAF Bronze Label rank in the process.
The Edinburgh Marathon 2023 is slated to start at 10:00 am on Sunday, May 28, 2023. This year's event will host 40,000 participants and over 100000+ mammoth crowd to cheer and electrify the event.
Course Record
Much is expected from this fast and flat course as elite runners attempt to break the course record set in 2018 by Kenya's Joel Kiptoo, who ran a time of 2:13:33. The women's history is currently held by the Russian Zinaida Semenova, who stopped the clock at 2:33;36 in 2005.
The Edinburgh Marathon 2023 route remains unchanged from previous events and will start at the usual City Centre and head out towards East Lothian, ending at Musselburgh, East Lothian.
You can expect a vibrant crowd along all the predetermined nine race routes.
Entry Fee/ Registration

Qualification Criteria
There are two ways you can register to participate in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2023.
Top club
All participants need to have proof of running a standard marathon time starting from January 1, 2022. Top club slots are only applicable to British runners.
● Male: Sub 2:40:00
● Female: Sub 3:00:00
Good for age
Good for age categorizes athletes based on their age. All participants should have run the set time as of January 1, 2022. Check the official website for age qualifications.
Refunds/Transfer/Defer
All Edinburgh full Marathon 2023 entries are non-refundable. You can't also transfer or defer to run at future events.
Cut-off Time
The Cut-off time is 6.5 hours after the last runner crosses the start line. If you can't complete the race within this period, you can board the sweeper bus that'll take you to the finish line.
You can continue running the race but on the pavement as the roads will have re-opened.
Any runner finishing the race after the cut-off time won't be eligible for a medal or the finisher's pack.
Bib and Race pack
All runners with UK addresses will have their race pack and bib numbers delivered before the event day. Overseas runners should collect their race pack and bib numbers at the event station on race day.

Edinburgh Marathon Festival 2023 Prize List
Prize winners will be notified via email within four weeks after the marathon. Prizes for males and females are the same for the marathon distance.
